Competition nights
There were 2 nights of preliminary competition and then finals nights where the top 10 competed
I had a blast the last two weeks and the fact that the new representative is absolutely the perfect choice made it that much better!
This is Brooke Rucker, the new Distinguished Young Woman of America! She undoubtedly deserves it and will do amazing things! I couldn't be happier for her :) congrats Brooke!

Fun nights
This is about 2 minutes after the absolute worst rain storm I've ever experienced
You never know whose gunna getcha!
Julia and I got to have a semi picknic lunch!
We also got to go to a Mardi gras ball! The boys that attended had an application and interview process to be selected to come! It was a very middle school like dance but we still had a blast! All the girls got dressed up all fancy and we were escorted in old time cars and a trolley with police in either end of our train of cars! We are literally like royalty! :))
This is our slap happiness after a long tiring day!
What has come and what has to come
So this week I have been in Mobile, Alabama! I am competing in the national distinguished young women finals! I am having the time of my life and meeting so many amazing girls! (49 to be exact) :) they have us jam packed every day with community events, outings, and rehearsals!
Some of the things we have been doing include:
- openin ceremonies on the day we arrived in Mobile. Finals are such a huge deal here we get treated like celebrities! It is equivalent to the CWS in Omaha.
This is me and my two roommates
Cassidy from Maine, and Peryn from Mississippi
We met the governor and were escorted and announced by state
- we had a breakfast and tour of Bellingrath Gardens
- learned country line dancing at the Battleship. We also got a tour of the battleship!
- we went to camp grace to swim at the waterfront, have team building activities and go on the ropes course!
- had a sick hop with the Girl Scouts!!
- ate the best sea food in town at Bluegill!
